I see two different ways we can work together:

1) Your presentation skills are lacking, and you want more confidence and charisma in public speaking.

2) You feel like a locked-in extrovert (or involuntary introvert), and you want to become more fully expressed.

While slightly different in nature and approach, they ultimately come down to the same thing: you feel like you can be and express your spontaneous self, even under pressure.

These are examples of possible outcomes of the coaching program:

  • You’re more bubbly and joyful when interacting with others because you’re more present and transparent.

  • Less or no preparation in speaking.

  • Progress in session, because we play speaking games, so you have experiential breakthroughs and not just theoretical understanding,

  • There’s little to no “planning” involved in your speaking, you don’t think about what to say too much; it just happens.

  • You can get to a point where you feel that you don’t have to hold back in social interactions.

  • There’s something magical that happens when you’re speaking from spontaneity rather than planned thoughts; you won’t feel drained after social events but energized and nourished.

  • Because you’re showing up more transparent and care about showing up as you instead of some idealized version of you, you’re allowing people around you to do the same. You’ll experience seeing other sides of people that you resonate with and might have never seen before because you always accidentally discourage them by closing off yourself.

  • More certainty in what to say and do.

  • Hanging out casually with friends and spending less mental bandwidth trying to model how they’re perceiving/judging you every move (being self-conscious) means you can reallocate that freed-up bandwidth to be present and listening better.

  • Reduced or no stress and anxiety around speaking.

  • Social interaction is an art if you’re no longer afraid of how you will be viewed, and you’re emboldened to try all sorts of shit. Making jokes that might not land. Pointing out something we’re all thinking about but haven’t said. Poking and twisting the social fabric, injecting aliveness and fun.

  • It turns out that it won't appeal to everyone when you don’t hold back in your expression. Being self-conscious means, you are trying to secretly appeal to everyone (and being a bit of a tease). So, not holding back is a catalyst in finding people you don’t resonate with as well as people you resonate with on a deep level. Finding the former is not only a small price to pay in exchange for finding the latter, it will also, over time, not feel like you’re paying a price at all.

Who am I?

  • I’ve been a public speaking coach at ultraspeaking.com for the past 2 years. Here I coached hundreds of students towards a more effortless way of speaking. If you’re interested more in cohort-based courses rather than 1:1 coaching with me, I’d highly recommend checking them out. (You might come across me again; I’m still a coach in their classes and sometimes lead them too!)

  • My life-long struggle around social anxiety, or as I like to call it, involuntary introversion, got to a tipping point, after which I can’t, in good faith, call it a struggle anymore. If anything, it’s one big endearing memory I cherish. A story of a previous life. And if anything else, it’s the majestic precursor of what I now see as one of my most defining strengths. I’ll always be in the path of exploration on this one, but I feel radically different from how I used to feel, which puts me in an emphatic place for my clients.

  • Another part of my coaching roots is based on my extended interaction with the work from artofaccomplishment.com. It’s where I learned to be interested in empowering your authentic way of levelling up your speaking rather than my view on what that should look like. I’m not related to them in any way, I just highly recommend checking out their courses and podcast.

Testimonials

I had been frustrated by how self-consciousness was limiting my ability to talk to people. I was exhausted from rehearsing what I would say and processing the details of each conversation. I knew something had to change, so I signed up for four coaching sessions with Pim.

The sessions were both fun and informative. Pim is kind and enthusiastic, so even when I found communication difficult, it remained comfortable to explore what was happening. The between session emails included both reflections on our sessions and interesting resources, so I was able to keep making progress during the week. It's clear that Pim invested a lot of time and energy in helping me overcome my specific challenges.

This coaching changed my mindset in both how I relate to others and how they relate to me. Because of that, I find communicating to be much easier. Plus, I feel more freedom and joy in my life in general. I have a great appreciation for the progress Pim helped me make. I highly recommend his coaching services if you're looking to make a similar transformation.
